Kayla Burt (KB) is the realtalk@MIT Program Administrator, where she is committed to fostering a culture of listening and building more trusted social networks across the MIT community. An enthusiast of educational research and analytics, KB also works as a Research Assistant with Reflective Educational Research, contributing to and analyzing global surveys on teacher practices and beliefs around technology, and helping with a new Action Research course for K12 educators worldwide with the Apple Distinguished Schools program. Previously, she served as a Data Research Analyst at the MIT Sloan School of Management.
As a PhD student in the Information Science program at the University at Buffalo, KB’s research focuses on information behavior and human-computer interaction in higher education, with a broader interest in education technology, social networks, and everyday life use. She is also a member of the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME)’s Graduate Student Issues Committee.
A proud Buffalo, NY native, KB embraces the city’s sports culture (for better or worse!) and sincerely believes that each year is “their year!” She is a volunteer coach with the First Tee and a trustee for the Western New York PGA Foundation. In her spare time, she enjoys biking, traveling, performing improv, and discovering new music. She’s also a huge fan of the WNBA and NBA, making people laugh, and spending time with those who bring joy into her life.
